Doesn't sound like it's going to get easier for anyone. Might even see a few hit their breaking point. I don't imagine these "games" have often run smoothly.

Basically never does, when people start killing each other. Though usually in my experience it doesn't take someone manipulating everyone like this to make it happen.

[ She shrugs. ]

How about you? You just kill for the job?

I've worked in a few outfits. Military, mercenary, private army. Been in a number of conflicts around the world. I can't say it feels good, even if it is for a cause. But I've gotten used to it.

Started out as a vigilante of sorts, taking out bandit leaders who forced their way into positions of power. Ended up something of a mercenary myself once I made a name for myself. It was a couple years ago I started running my own town, executing the lawbreakers personally.

[ As per the glowing Sheriff of Lynchwood badge she still wears. ]

And I've got no problem saying it feels good, myself.

Running your own town... that's a fine position.

Not my dream personally, but I've worked for some who aspired to lead organizations, even nations. Guess I'd be considered more like a deputy.

Yeah? My boyfriend was that type. President of the biggest corporation in the galaxy, was doing his best to wipe out all opposition on the planet, usher in a new era of peace, that sort of thing. I worked with him on some stuff, but not for him, at least not recently. His ivory tower aspirations aren't mine. I like a little more action than that, and a little more... personal involvement.
